Experimental governance in urban labs: the route to inclusive participation and resilience? (completed)
- Status: completed
This project examined an experimental approach to governance in so-called Urban Labs geared to promoting the participation of vulnerable young people affected by problems in the social domain (youth care, job market integration, social support). This was a sub-project of one of the routes of the Nationale Wetenschapsagenda (Dutch National Research Agenda).
Description
In this sub-project, professors Evelien Tonkens and Margo Trappenburg of the University of Humanistic Studies worked with researchers from Erasmus University Rotterdam, Leiden University, Utrecht University, the University of Twente, the City of Rotterdam, the City of Amersfoort, and the Veldacademie.
In 2017, the NWO (Dutch Research Council) granted funding to proposals for eight routes of the National Research Agenda, to the maximum amount of € 2.5 million each. The route Op weg naar veerkrachtige samenlevingen (‘Building resilient societies’) received funding for the thematic programme JOIN – Jongeren in een veerkrachtige samenleving (‘Young people in a resilient society’). This thematic programme is being elaborated by a large number of consortiums, of which the University of Humanistic Studies is a part.
JOIN is one of the 25 routes of the National Research Agenda: an inventory of scientific questions for science to focus on in the coming years, drawn up with the aid of questions raised by society. At the instruction of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, NWO has awarded the so-called Startimpuls proposals.
