Phenomenological Research – Prof. dr. Carlo Leget, Prof. dr. Finn Thorbjørn Hansen


Dates: Tuesday 13 May 2025 and Wednesday 14 May 2025


Phenomenological research originates from phenomenological philosophy and has been developed into an empirical research approach that aims to shed light on the essence of lived experiences. In this two-day course, the philosophical underpinnings and methodological approaches of phenomenological research will be covered.

Qualitative Data Analysis – Dr. Alistair Niemeijer, Dr. Siri Driessen, Dr. Laura Vermeulen 


Dates: Monday 16 June 2025 and Tuesday 17 June 2025


This course is an introduction to qualitative data analysis and will entail both a brief overview of important (epistemological, methodological and procedural) theoretical insights and include empirical strategies and concepts such as theory-based analyzing; sensitizing concepts; thick description; coding and triangulation. An important part of the course entails practicing with coding and organizing data, with existing data bases and if possible, your own data. This practice includes the use of ATLAS.ti as a tool to enhance your work. Different methods of organizing and analyzing your data are practiced and linked to theoretical approaches like different forms of content analysis, narrative analysis and multi-level analysis.
