29 September: Inaugural address Nicole Immler on historical memory and transformative justice
On September 29th, Prof. Nicole Immler will deliver her inaugural address. Nicole Immler is Professor of Historical Memory and Transformative Justice at the University of Humanistic Studies.
Historian Prof. Nicole Immler investigates the social dimensions of recognition and recovery for victims and/or survivors of structural violence, their families and broader communities. In doing so, her research also focuses on the potential that restorative justice has to bring about so-called transformative justice. The new chair responds to the juridification of society, and aims to contribute to a more human-centered approach to social justice. The chair and the research team thus broaden the classical approach of transitional justice to historical injustice by including the social, economic and ecological dimensions of large-scale human rights violations.
