Book presentation: Education for Democratic Intercultural Citizenship

Education can play a central role in preparing youngsters for life in a democratic society, for active participation and greater social justice and tolerance in all domains of society. Given this important task for education, it is necessary to train a new generation of educational professionals that can contribute to this development.

Seven European Universities are working together in the Erasmus Strategic Partnership EDIC+. They have developed a joint curriculum for students and PhD-researchers of teacher education and educational studies. Each university organised and implemented a module and together they offered an intensive programme (www.uvh.nl/edic). They also developed reserach together and today launched the book Education for Democratic Intercultural Citizenship. The first example was presented to Eduard Nazarski, director of Amnesty International/the Netherlands.

The book is publised by Brill and can be downloaded from their website.
